I think this is some sort of emergency phone, but the sparse design and jaunty font kind of make me want to just hang out here and chat like in those party line ads from the 80s.
The Wave Swinger premiered in Germany in 1972, designed by Zierer and built by Franz Schwarzkopf, brother of Anton Schwarzkopf. In 1974 the first portable unit debuted under the same partnership. Since then Zierer has built about 200 units. In German they are known as Wellenflug or Wellenflieger, literally “flying wave”.
There’s an odd semi-abandoned rooftop parking structure in downtown Sac that’s just begging to have donuts ripped in it. This whole city makes no sense to me.
I stopped by East Portal Park to see what was going on out there. There’s a great bocce facility, but you have to be a member of a club to play, and most evenings are scheduled full-on league play instead of just drop-in. Which is to say, far too organized for me so I took a picture of the dirt instead.
After roughly twenty flights this year with most arrivals at the airport with far less than the recommended hour to clear security, I have finally discovered how much time before the flight is too little to make it through: nine minutes.
I think I could have made it if I’d pre-printed a boarding pass, but I don’t know how to use the damn printers in the new office yet. As far as I can recall, this is my first missed flight in almost ten years so I’m not too upset. Though if I’d known I wasn’t going to make it I would have stopped to put gas in the rental before returning it.
